During my stay on the DMZ to qualify for the Imjin Scout patch you had to spend 6 months on the DMZ. That included pulling patrols on the DMZ and the southern boundary, Setting up ambush patrols, laying land mines, taking line company patrols out at night every 2 hours during the winter months, and whatever else they could think of to make life exciting.
